The red carpet premiere of Red Chillies' Entertainment new presentation Om Shanti Om was held at The Empire Theatre located in Leciester Square, on November 8th, 2007. A galaxy of stars descended at the venue to promote the film and attend the premiere. Leading the group of stars was Shah Rukh Khan, who looked extremely proud of Om Shanti Om as a producer and its lead actor. The Farah Khan directed film launches the career of supermodel Deepika Padukone in Bollywood. Co-stars Arjun Rampal and Shreyas Talpade took the lead of King Khan and charmed the audience on the red carpet. The streets of London were transformed into a sea of people that were scrambling for the best vantage point. Many were found sitting atop telephone booths and had to be pulled down by the Metropolitan Police. Om Shanti Om is the first Bollywood film to have such a massive premiere in London and gave the city a taste of Bollywood. Om Shanti Om deals with the theme of reincarnation and is set in the 1970s and later, in the current year of 2007. The film has been pitched by Shah Rukh and Farah Khan as a major commercial entertainer and he is sure of its blockbuster potential. When asked if he was worried about competition from Saawariya, Shah Rukh was quick to point out that no film can give his film competition although he did wish good luck to the Saawariya team.
